Using supercritical CO₂ (sCO₂) as a working fluid is being explored for a number of power generation technologies including fossil, nuclear, geothermal, concentrating solar power (CSP) and waste heat recovery^1-7. The various sCO₂ cycles are attractive because of the low critical point (31°C/73.8 bar) and the reduced work of compression compared to an ideal gas. While CO₂ is sometimes described as inert, there is a long history of component degradation in subcritical and supercritical CO₂ and a particular concern about internal carburization^8-16.

The motivation for this work was to perform a comprehensive test program to investigate several commercially available composite repair systems and their interactions with cathodic protection. Multiple test methods were utilized to prove there remains a low probability of shielding for composites of typical thickness and in a typical environment. This work will also discuss how results from current industry qualification tests (such as those specified in ASME PCC-2) can be considered when making long-term decisions regarding the effects of cathodic protection on composite repairs and the pipelines on which they are installed. This paper provides an innovative approach to test and validate the interactions of cathodic protection with several commercially available composite repair systems.

Several alternating current (AC) coupon test stations (CTS) located near AC power lines were investigated to assess the AC interference corrosion risk of the test coupons. Asstation consisted of two ½ inch (1.27 cm) diameter and 1received each AC test inch (2.54 cm) long carbon steel (CS ) coupons. Coupons are much larger than 1 cm ² and current density measurements are not 100% relatable to the SP21424 or ISO 18086 criteria, since these refer to measurements on (typically) 1 cm² . The current densities measured on the coupons in this study will underestimate the AC corrosion threat.

On March 2011 at Fukushima Daiichi NPS, seawater was injected into spent fuel pools just after the accident for emergency cooling. The temperature of the water in a pool raised up to 93 ℃, and the chloride ion concentration raised up to 1,944 ppm (maximum) after seawater injection. In this high temperature and high chloride ion concentration environment, localized corrosion including crevice corrosion may have occurred on components made of passive metals such as stainless steels. The environment is assumed to be susceptible to crevice corrosion for 304 SS based on laboratory experiments and the concept of ER, CREV. There is a low possibility of initiating localized corrosion after the water was purified and deoxygenated. However, it is not certain whether localized corrosion, once initiated and propagated under the severe condition, will repassivate after the bulk water is purified. It is necessary to examine the continuity of crevice corrosion propagation when the bulk water is purified and deaerated, which means the cathodic reactions outside the crevice will no longer contribute to the propagation of the corrosion.

This paper presents work in follow-up to the previous study. It is focused on UNS1 N07718, UNS N09925, UNS N07725 and UNS N09946. A series of incremental step load tests of compact tensile specimens were conducted to measure the fracture toughness during testing and cracking was monitored by the Electric Crack Growth Monitoring technique. A new engineering technique, referred to as statistical fractography, was used to investigate the fracture surface morphology and extract from it the fracture properties of the alloys.

Further, there are differences between taking direct measurements from known surfaces (i.e., the ICRI and TACM CSP panels) and obtaining indirect measurements from an epoxy putty casting of those same known surfaces. develop a groundwater supply in the South Westside Basin of San Francisco for use during
drought conditions for Daly City, San Bruno, and the South San Francisco District. The project
includes construction of 13 groundwater wells with a total capacity of 7.2 million gallons per day

In gas-oil separation plants (GOSPs), multiphase crude is separated, degassed and then dehydrated before being shipped to stabilization plants for further processing. Typically, in ageing oil fields, the crude is accompanied by large volumes of formation water that is separated in GOSPs using three-phase production traps, which are large horizontal vessels, using a gravimetric separation process where water collects and settles at the vessel’s lower part.
