The external side of aboveground storage tank bottom plate is subject to corrosion since it’s in contact with soil. Cathodic Protection (CP) is very effective technique that been utilized for a decades to control the soil side corrosion of tank bottom plate. This paper provide the installation details of two different CP system namely distribution anode CP system around the tank and grid CP system underneath the bottom plate. In addition a comparison between these CP systems in terms of current requirement current drainage and distribution pattern to provide adequate protection for bottom plate of aboveground storage tanks.
