There are several thousand bridges that are scheduled for maintenance painting both in the State of Tennessee and Missouri. The Caruthersville Bridge (I-155 Mississippi River Bridge) is an on-going project, which is the northern-most bridge over the Lower Mississippi River, with the combined flow of the Upper Mississippi and the Ohio River.
As the building design, construction, and enforcement communities become increasingly aware of the connections between air infiltration, energy efficiency, and general performance, the concept of the “continuous air barrier” is making its way into buildings. One reflection of this is seen in proposals to require air barriers in the national model building energy codes.

Solar reflectivity is the percentage of solar energy that is reflected from the roof surface instead of being absorbed into the roof and building as a whole.
In November 2004 ISO 19840 was published to provide a consistent method for the measurement of coatings applied to structural steel for corrosion prevention. This new standard includes methods for the adjustment of gauges to take account of surface roughness, the designation of inspection areas and the use of acceptance criteria.
The purpose of this study was to determine the actual service life of some commonly used bridge coating systems. A study authored by Gordon H. Brevoort and updated by KTA-Tator, Inc. in 1996 (1) provided a table of projected service life based largely on a survey of coating manufacturers. Ballast water carried by ships keeps them upright during loading and offloading operations and provides balance, stability, and trim during sailing. Because ballast water is loaded from the surrounding port or coastal waters, organisms in the ballast water sometimes establish populations resulting in biological invasions, which may have severe ecological or economic impacts. This standard is designed to test the effect of long-term accelerated exposure of treated water on coating systems.
