Odor control systems are critical to handling and treating foul air in wastewater collection systems and treatment plants. However, odor control systems do not stop corrosion related to biogenic sulfide formation of sulfuric acid as some engineers would have you believe. Conversely if you have an odor problem you also typically have a corrosion problem, and each problem requires separate control strategies.

Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) is the largest producer of water by its different water desalination plants distributed around the kingdom. In SWCC above storage tanks (ASTs) have the capacity to store 140,000 m3 of produced water. Most tanks are commissioned more than 20 years and have worked properly with minor observations on their performance. Mostly SWCC tanks are made of carbon steel and internally protected with a two - components epoxy coating as a passive method and cathodic protection as an active method.
In the UK a huge effort was made in the mid to late 2000’s to minimize carbon emissions and the country had seen a rapid increase in wind-turbine generators being installed onshore and increasingly in offshore waters, nearly 2000 were operating in September 2018 and many more are expected in the coming decades. 1 One operator took the challenge to install a number of wind-turbines in the southern sector of the North Sea, just off the coast of south east England. These wind-turbines are constructed using the monopile foundation type principle.
The static FEA results identified opportunities to optimize existing maintenance, inspection, and operating practices. Recommendations are made regarding inspection, repair, and operation of haul trucks based on the ambient temperature, crack depth and length.
API (American Petroleum Institute) tracks and analyzes the cause of leaks / releases of hydrocarbons based on data reported to PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration). One study took a statistical look at the causes of internal corrosion for onshore liquid pipelines. In a 10-year period, a total of 503 incidents were responsible for 53,000 barrels spilled and property damage of $188,000,000.
Gel coat has traditionally been used in environments where color, gloss and relative long-term performance are important. This premise is still true today; however, a much more advanced technology has been developed that provides improved characteristics of color and gloss stability, higher mechanical properties and zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s).
The standard type of chemicals long used as oilfield corrosion inhibitors are so-called filmforming molecules carrying a positive net charge. More specifically, these additives belong to e.g. the classes fatty amines, alkoxylated fatty amines, amidoamines, imidazolines, pyridinium quats, and quarternary ammonium compounds like alkyl benzyl quats. Anionic molecules, predominantly phosphate esters, may sometimes also be used as stand-alone inhibitors or as enhancers in formulations with a base inhibitor of the abovementioned type.
Over the past twenty years, additive manufacturing (AM) has gradually emerged as an important commercial manufacturing technology for the production of components, particularly complex and highvalue metallic components. AM enables the layer-by-layer rapid manufacturing of near-net shapes using 3D computer-aided design data and typically minimizes raw-material wastes.
