When one of the World’s Largest Chlor-Alkali Producers expanded their facilities in south Texas, their requirement for corrosion resistant Plastic Process Piping was unparalleled. What proved to be the largest single Piping contract ever required, was awarded to, and supplied by a single Fabricator. Six different types of piping materials were employed, including solid FRP, and a variety of Thermoplastic-Lined FRP (dual-laminate) Piping Systems, in order to address the diverse needs of the Customer. This Paper details how the use of Corrosion Resistant Plastic Materials, combined with an Engineering Approach to the Fabrication and Supply of the piping Systems, incorporating a high degree of Quality Assurance, resulted in this successful application of nonmetallic materials, in aggressive services.
