This paper uses case histories to illustrate experience with FRP tanks, process vessels, piping, and equipment in two Canadian west coast Kraft pulp mills. In this paper we will not discuss details of engineering design because it is outside our job function and is documented in published papers, engineering specifications, and codes. We will
discuss successful use of FRP and some failures of FRP. Failures are an extremely valuable learning opportunity for it seems to be human nature that the lessons best learned are those which involve some degree of trauma. The goal should be to benefit from the experience and to prevent a re-occurrence.
