To resolve cathodic disbondment result discrepancies from different testing lab several testing variables that were not addressed in the ASTM G8 were examined to determine the effects on the cathodic disbondment results. Design of Experiment technique was utilized to explore the possible interactions among the variables. These variables included two epoxy coating systems the removal of salt deposits on holiday electrolyte solution refreshment and the age of the electrode. FTIR analysis of the disbonded coating specimens showed the two coating systems exhibited different causes of coating disbondment.
