CRA’s (corrosion resistant alloys) such as martensitic or duplex stainless steels are used for the flow line material in the corrosive wet gas i.e. carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide environment. A new duplex stainless steel which consists of 25%Cr-5%Ni-1%Mo-2.5%Cu has been developed for line pipe usage in slightly sour environment. The feature of the material is sufficient corrosion resistance in slightly sour environment in spite of smaller molybdenum content than that of existing Duplex grades such as UNS S31803. Chromium and copper elements are actively used as alternative corrosion resistant element instead of molybdenum. Corrosion resistance of the material is ensured by containing sufficient chromium and copper. To discuss the corrosion resistance of the material the surface film is analyzed after the corrosion test. Stability of surface film will be discussed by estimating solubility of corrosion products and surface analysis results.
