In 1993 the installation of a cathodic protection system and repair where comenced and completed in 1995. The cathodic protection system was installed to protect the reinforcment of underground concrtete elements of a Bank building in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. The cathodic protection sytem was monitored and adjusted on an annual basis from 1995 to 2009. During that time period there was no evidence of deteriation of the reinforcment. The cathodic protection system consists of long life low wear rate anode materials. Certain subscribed anode panels consist of mixed metal oxide coated titanium embedded in a cementitious overlay. Other anode panels consist of mixed metal oxide coated titanium ribbon embedded in saw slots in the floor slab and other subscribed anode panels consisting of carbon and graphite loaded conductive coating. In areas where high steel density was encountered a combination of the above anode materials was used along with probe anodes installed in cored holes in the slab. This paper will show graphicaly and photograaphicaly the condition of the structure after 15 years of Cathodic Protection to the reinforcing elliments underground.
