It is now well established that any historical approach to corrosion management was primarily reactive in nature, i.e. based on a controlled document system with set review periods. In our response, we have been developing a methodology that can be used to visualise the status of assets at a high level and support the effective implementation of a given Corrosion Management System, as based on information collated from relevant Corrosion Risk Assessments, Pipeline Risk Assessments, Risk Based Inspection etc. We focus on developing a flexible tool that allows for an instant overview of the assets’ integrity status, without a need for extraction of information from engineering departments. Technical personnel and management can thus access the same range of information, which can be readily audited by a third party, such as the UK Health and Safety Executive.

Key words: downloadable, Corrosion Management System, Ageing asset, Visualisation tools
