Graffiti has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. In recent times, Graffiti has gained widespread visual attention, most of it unwanted. Graffiti vandals may believe that their actions harm no one, yet the reality is that their work invites gang violence and a sharp decline in property values.
An NSRP-sponsored project investigating the cost of coatings QA suggested that current QA/QC processes have a high tendency to lead to conflict. Survey data collected during the project indicates that one in 20 inspection checkpoints is likely to result in a dispute. Some of these disputes may simply arise from the expected variability in standard coating QA test methods. Data regarding the reproducibility of coating QA measurements is generally not well understood and, in some cases non-existent. The paper will discuss the reproducibility of various measurements used in the industrial protective coatings industry.

The presentation reviews the utilization of color analyses for the assessment and rating of rust, whereas particular attention is spent to flash rusting. The background of flash rust formation is discussed first, along with a brief review about the composition of flash rust. The fundamentals of the HSV color model, which is selected as a simple suitable model, are introduced. Finally, the author discusses the utilization of the suggested approach for the evaluation of steel substrate cleanliness and flash rust assessment.
This research investigated antifouling coatings, foul-release coatings, and fluorinated powder coatings for mussel control. Parker Dam, on the Colorado River, was selected for our test site due to the rapid reproduction rates of the quagga mussels. Zebra mussels were first introduced in the United States in the 1980’s by foreign vessels in the Great Lakes. The rapid migration of the mussels west prompted the US Bureau of Reclamation to examine technologies that might reduce their impact on water resources infrastructure. Many new materials and coating products have been developed to deter the attachment of mussels onto infrastructure.
