In this paper, the development and field trial results of a new high shear corrosion inhibitor that works in CO2 and CO2/H2S environments with and without sand are described. The laboratory tests will be described that demonstrate the high shear corrosion inhibition properties of the new product and its compatibility with different metals and elastomers. The product is suitable for umbilical injection and can be used in deepwater applications. The product also exhibits better water quality attributes than other high shear corrosion inhibitors that work in a CO2 environment in the presence of sand. The product has worked in several locations ranging from deepwater to on-shore applications. The results of several field trials where this new corrosion inhibitor was tested will be discussed in this paper.
