Today's exploration for Oil & Gas leads to a range of highly corrosive environments that, in tum, require a range of corrosion resistant high nickel content alloys. The proper chemical additions, primarily of nickel, chromium and molybdenum, provide the required corrosion resistance and a cost effective alloy selection. This paper examines five nickel
alloys used extensively in hot, sour environments as Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) and rates them in accordance to their corrosion resistance, strength range, and alloy content. Keywords: nickel-base alloys, sour environments, corrosion resistance, oil country tubular goods, oil field
