Research and field experience with ethanol stress corrosion cracking (eSCC) continues to involve a better understanding of the implication of this phenomenon and guidelines for its prevention. This paper highlights laboratory findings that identify the causal relationships that define the key parameters and the results of field failures that define the relationship between laboratory testing and field serviceability. Findings presented in the recently updated API 939D (research investigations) and API 939E (Guidelines) also be highlighted along with recent new information that can be used to minimize eSCC failures in many points in the distribution system that include (transportation pipelines terminals and blending).
