AbstractThe Electrochemical hydrogen permeation test was carried on two pipeline steels API 5L X65 and ASTM SA 182 F22 in previous papers [1 2 3]. The main result of that study was that diffusion of hydrogen into the industrial metal and alloys strongly affected by the trapping phenomena and such an interaction can modify the diffusion coefficient of hydrogen. Moreover dislocations which are known as reversible traps of hydrogen with the trapping binding energy of 28 kJ mol-1 were found to be the main effect on desorption of hydrogen from the pre-charged specimens [2].The effect of different steel microstructure on diffusion of hydrogen was studied by thermal treatment of the same materials in the laboratory in order to obtain Martensitic and Ferritic – Pearlitic steel microstructures. In order to investigate more the effect of dislocations on transport of hydrogen into the metal the electrochemical permeation test under different level of plastic deformation was carried out to determine the consequences of lattice distortion and defects on hydrogen solubility diffusivity and trapping in a carbon API 5L X65 pipeline steel.References[1] E.
