Impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) has been proven to effectively control corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete but little information has been presented regarding the very long-term effectiveness of ICCP for extending the service life of concrete bridge repair. This paper presents the results of testing of ICCP systems on three bridges in Ohio 16 20 and 23 years after installation. Even after this time the systems were functioning as intended. Comparison of protected and unprotected areas provide conclusive evidence of the prevention of damage due to corrosion.
