Remaining Strength of Corroded Pipe Direct Assessment (RSTRENG DA) process can be used as an assessment metal loss technique to verify ILI Direct Assessment and other inspection data which is used in determining the safe pressures and thereby validate the operator’s ongoing integrity management program. This is accomplished by evaluating and verifying the metal loss defects such as corrosion and mechanical damage such as a gouge with the stress concentrator removed. This assessment provides a pipeline operator with a basis for the determination for repairs or not.RSTRENG DA can be used for two type of dependent threats; External Corrosion and Internal Corrosion as well as metal loss defects such as gouges (Mechanical Damage) with stress concentrators removed. It is specifically intended to address on-shore line pipe constructed with line pipe ferrous materials.RSTRENG DA is dependent upon the initial pipeline assessment which consists of legacy data pipe attributes construction materials welds loading and operations. To accommodate each of the three conventional assessment methods this document provides information for American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME ) B31G Modified B31G and RSTRENG. It is also recommended to use “Remaining Strength of Corroded Pipe Program and Assessment Procedure as per regulatory requirements.
