The Springhouse Country Market and Restaurant has been a local icon for over 40 years. The commercial bakery floor had been covered for years with a commercial sheet vinyl that would fail in spots due to the infiltration of water and cleaning materials at the seams. This resulted in the need to repair the sheet material several times which created a patchwork effect. Finally, the owner reached out to a flooring professional to discuss a new renovation solution.

Polysiloxane (often referred to as ‘hydide coatings’) products have been one of the major technology platforms used in the European offshore sector mainly due ban on isocynate among several customers. The potential long-term performance of polysiloxanes coatings have also been a strong argument for this topcoat selection in NORSOK (501 – rev 5) systems. There have been several claim-situations with delamination in epically two-coat systems, but similar problems have also been seen on traditional NORSOK systems.

Certain coating applications including those used in aerospace, industrial maintenance, construction and transportation industries require a combination of primer/topcoat or basecoat/clearcoat layers. These multilayered systems require complex application and curing procedures. Multiple formulation, application and processing steps not only contribute to environmental waste generation and pollution they also use an excessive amount of energy until a solid film has been produced
The FHWA 100-year coating study was initiated in August 2009. The objective of this study is to identify and evaluate coating materials that can provide 100 years of maintenance-free service life for steel bridges.
A homogeneous mixture of two immiscible polymeric binders were dissolved in a common solvent or a mixture of solvents was applied as a thin film. The first polymeric binder was a bisphenol-A (BPA) based epoxide, epoxide modified with tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) oligomer, or phosphated epoxide. The second polymeric binder was a fluorinated acrylic copolymer.
This paper will present both laboratory and field trial results as evaluated with ASTM D610 for Zn-Ni nanolaminated and comparative coated fasteners and discuss how utilizing ASTM D610 helps to ensure objective, consistent red rust measurements.
