This study was conducted to determine the root cause of aggressive corrosion due to wet NH4Cl salt deposition in reactor effluent streams in hydroprocessing units. In addition corrosion resistance and behavior of carbon steel and alloys in high-concentration NH4Cl solutions were investigated.
Development of linings for high temperature, high-pressure applications present a number of special challenges. Challenges include chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, adhesion under cycling temperature and pressure conditions, flexibility, application properties, as well as resistance to pressure and temperature.
Dimensional Profiling is a new prospective of applying sustainable non-slip characteristics to the surface of polymeric flooring and coating systems. Over the last three decades, it has been commonplace in the industry to provide a single nonslip media profile.
That's a pretty audacious title, isn’t it? I’m going to show you how to take the best of the old methods, stir in some of the new media, and stand out as a coating professional. Distinctly different from the wanna-be’s and the willnever-be’s so the whole process of getting jobs becomes automatic and easy.
There is a wide gulf in the industry between the capabilities of water jetting and wet abrasive blast equipment capabilities and the perception of their capabilities. The misinformation frequently leads to miscommunication between the various parties involved in projects where the equipment and associated standards are used.
In the present study, thermal effects on the corrosion behavior and corrosion protection performance of TSA coating were investigated using various electrochemical techniques. Heat treatment at higher temperature induces more cracks in the sealer and aluminum coating. Water and corrosive species (e.g., Cl-) penetrate through the cracks, resulting in corrosion of steel substrate.
Solvent-free two component polyurethane (2-K-PU) systems have been approved as suitable protective coatings systems since many years. Two component polyurethanes are favored within pipeline and tank constructions where high performance and durability have to be accomplished under harsh conditions (e.g., field application, high service temperatures, high salt load, wet soil conditions etc.).
The previous quality control process at Newport News Shipbuilding for recording surface preparation, paint application, and associated inspections used a paper system. These records required a vast amount of physical storage space, were difficult to research and track due to the complexity of the records often consisting of multiple sheets of data. To address these problems along with others that contribute to inadequate maintenance of objective quality evidence, the company decided to take the initiative in resolving this issue by developing a paperless QA system.
Update to “Expected Service Life and Cost Considerations for Maintenance and New Construction Protective Coating Work” - NACE Corrosion 2008. Assists the coatings engineer in identifying candidate protective coating systems for specific industrial environments.
