Special precautions are required for the application of marine and other coating systems on steel surfaces .prepared by Ultra High Pressure Waterjetting (UHP-WJ). Coating manufactures also stipulate strict guidelines and pre-conditions for the use and guarantee of their systems if these are to be applied on UHP-WJ surfaces. This paper presents the results of testing of some high performance marine coatings that were applied on steel panels prepared by UHP-WJ and exposed to natural seawater. Results of cathodic disbondment tests on the same coatings are also reported. Coating application testing and performance assessment were carried out using standard protocols developed by NACE SSPC and ASTM. Key words: Surface preparation ultra high pressure waterjetting (UHP-WJ); marine coatings cathodic disbondment tests
