Raman spectroscopy is being proposed as a framework for accurate real time in-situ monitoring of corrosive species and corrosion by-products. The technique has been shown to offer high chemical selectivity and resolution very high sensivity minimal sample preparation non-destructive to substrates under observation andagnostic to effects of aqueous/non-aqueous components. A framework for application Raman-based devices for hydrocarbon recovery and corrosion effects is described and shows that the methodology offers improved reliability accuracy and efficiency for in-situ real time monitoring of oil and gas production systems / environments.
