Within an oil & gas station normally several electrically connected metal structures are protected as a whole to ensure their safety and this is called regional cathodic protection. There are various protected objects distributed intensively in a station including all kinds of buried pipelines tank bottoms equipment bases and grounding. These would consume large current and cause problems of interference and shielding making the design of anode ground beds very hard. In this work some key technologies are studied with practical regional cathodic protection projects in different stations. An accurate method of site measuring protection current needed and an optimized design method of anode bed are developed which can ensure protection results with effective elimination of interference and shielding problems.
