Injection of H2S scavenger may sometimes be the most viable short term solution to control the H2S concentration in produced fluids which is increasing due to reservoir souring below a threshold value defined for specific subsea equipment. Field testing of a commercial H2S scavenger was successfully completed under two sets of conditions: 1) Topsides before third compression stage of the gas lift stream; and 2) Subsea at a well head. A methodology was implemented to evaluate the efficiency of these scavengers based on the field trial data and a simple equation was developed to estimate the chemical dosage required to be injected at different injection points using the calculated efficiency and available production data (e.g. BOPD GLR water cut H2S concentration pressure and temperature).
