For characterisation of susceptibility to intergranular corrosion different test methods are used. These tests are immersion test such as Streicher- Strauss- or Huey- test as well as electrochemical methods like the EPR test (electrochemical potentiokinetik reactivation) and the oxalic acid test. Where long term immersion test mainly evaluate grain dropping short term electrochemical tests are evaluating grain etching. In this work are each of one group of testing methods has been evaluated. These are the ASTM G28A Streicher test and the ASTM G108 EPR test. The results of both tests are compared for various CRAs (corrosion resist alloys). Alloys investigated are 316L 926 and 625. There is always a good correlation between both tests except when discontinuous depletion zone are present in the material. The advantage of short testing time of EPR is partially compensated by the necessary of optimization for each single material.
