The use of brackish water in plant cooling-systems m Maracaibo and the surrounding region is becoming increasingly imperative, in view of the fact that fresh water is in limited supply. In view of recurring failures with different copper alloys in this water, studies have been carried out in this medium with different materials- Super Stainless Steel: UNS N-08367 and UNS S-32750, Grade 2 Titanium (UNS R-50400)and Cu-10Ni (UNS C-70600)- from both an inorganic and microbiological standpoint, with and without chemical treatment with chlorine.
