Localised corrosion is the principal cause of line fhilure when corrosion is internal. As the inhibition is the most common way to control comosion in wet gas and oil production lines, the inhibitor should be able to control localised corrosion in all cases where it may occur. Therefore, Inhibitor selection philosophy should be based on this approach. Laboratory and field evaluation of corrosion inhibitors showed that some products are almost 100°Aefficient in preventing localised comosion if their concentration in the water phase is above a threshold value. The main uncertainty, which then remains, is the inhibitor availability at the pipe surface. Keywords: localised CO2 corrosion, inhibitor testing, corrosion control, wet gas lines
