An overview of hydrogen permeation measurement and monitoring techniques is presented. The hydrogen permeation measurement techniques and monitoring devices of hydrogen based on measurement of molecular hydrogen formed in terms of changes in pressure or vacuum established, and hydrogen permeation current (electrochemical technique) are discussed in detail. Conversion of output data from hydrogen monitors or probes, such as increase in pressure or decrease in vacuum due to accumulation of molecular hydrogen, and oxidation current required to ionize atomic hydrogen into hydrogen flux value is provided which enable interpretation and correlation of data.
