The prediction of the CO2 corrosion rate is quite important in the design of the corrosion control methods for well tubular, pipelines and other components in the Oil and Gas industry. The paper deals with the discussion of case histories relevant to the CO2 corrosion failure of carbon steel components in oil production. The morphology (uniform or localised attacks), corrosion rate, and operating conditions are examined and discussed comparing them to the output of the prediction models, available in the literature, for the CO2 corrosion prediction.
