Alloy selection ia described for structural elements of advanced hot gas cleaning systems used to filter particulate from process gas produced by pressurized fluidized bed coal combustion (PFBC), and coal and biomass gasification. Service environments are identical. Essential components of a typical filtering system are described. Material considerations are outlined for particular service conditions and particular hardware. Elevated temperature creep strength, and resistance to thermal fatigue, oxidation, carbunzation, corrosion and erosion are discussed for a number of components functioning indistinct service applications. Performance experience is reported for several alloys.
