The advantages of low-carbon 13% chromium steels with respect to corrosion resistance over conventional API grade Cr 13 type steel are presented. The new steels have minimum yield strength values between 80 ksi and 110 ksi. The alloy design is such that the steels are martenisitc in microstructure, This ensures that the steels have the necessary high strength and good toughness in weldments.
