The bridge across the Pickwick Landing Dam in Hard in County, Tennessee was constructed in 1961 and corrosion induced damage was identified on the deck during an evaluation conducted in 1974. In 1978, a low slump dense concrete overlay was placed as a part of the deck repair and rehabilitation. In April of 1995, a detailed corrosion condition evaluation was performed on the south bound lane to investigate the effectiveness of the overlay in extending the service life of the bridge deck. Considering the condition of the bridge deck prior to overlay placement and the 1995 evaluation results, it was concluded that the overlay was instrumental in extending the service life of the deck.
