The present status of understanding of corrosion on the secondary side of steam generators is reviewed with respect to achieving local environments on heat transfer surfaces, with crevices or not, in which corrosion is minimized or prevented. AIIoy 600, Alloy 600TT and Alloy 690TT are the materials considered; tube supports with drilled holes and line contact as well as carbon steel and stainless steel are also considered. Additional work is identified that should be considered in order to improve the capacity to predict and assure performance.
Key Words: Steam generator, Alloy 600, Alloy 690, high nickel alloys, secondary side, corrosion, modes of corrosion, submodcs of corrosion, stress corrosion cracking.
