In recent years, there has been much demand for sophisticated marine coatings that comply with the Performance Standard for Protective Coating (PSPC) for dedicated seawater ballast tanks in all type of ships and double-side skin spaces of bulk carriers IMO/MSC/Res.215(82) and Cargo Oil Tank Coating IMO/MSC/Res.288(87) as the mandatory requirements.

Conventional systems, such as sand blasting, for the secondary surface treatment used to remove the contaminants produce dust that deteriorates the working environment and the abrasives (media) that must be disposed as industrial waste.
