This study centers on the effect of acid concentration on the microstructure of anodized
aluminum. Anodization is a popular method of protecting aluminum from corrosion. However,
the concentration of the electrolyte (sulphuric acid) used in anodization tends to affect its
microstructure. The results obtained from this study show that the microstructure of the
anodized samples used at varying electrolyte concentration, under a predetermined voltage
and time, with the electrolyte at a predetermined room temperature revealed a – Al (white)
distribution along the grain boundary with some black like layer, which is distributed in the
matrix of aluminum alloy with increase in acid concentration.
