Alloy 625-clad and carbon steel are being used in the construction of offshore risers from the sea
floor to the platform. The use of such clad materials introduces several possible corrosion and materials
integrity concerns because of the possible galvanic corrosion between carbon steel (the anode) and the
nickel alloy (the cathode). A few inhibitors were evaluated in this work. The results suggested that the
use of inhibitor could reduce the corrosion rate to a level below a predetermined target rate.
