A non-intrusive vacuum hydrogen probe that can maintain a leak-tight seal has been successfully designed and field tested. Industrial installations and laboratory testing of this hydrogen probe have confirmed that the integrity of the probe to vessel seal can be maintained indefinitely throughout continuous high temperature operation (up to 500 oC) as well as repeated temperature transients. The present paper discusses the unique sealing technology of this probe, focusing on data which confirms the robustness and reliability of the seal.

Keywords: corrosion monitoring, hydrogen flux, vacuum hydrogen probe, leak-tight seal
