Electrochemical noise has opened a new window for the investigation of corrosion phenomena and monitoring at the industry. However the comprehension of its signal remains still very limited and in consequence often only qualitative information from corrosion processes can be obtained. Regarding to localized corrosion of stainless steels, all electrochemical semi-reactions are directly related with the produced electrochemical noise signal without any manipulation of the system. Therefore the cathodic process should be an important influence factor on the obtained signal. It was found out a relationship between the kinetic of the oxygen reduction and the possibility of free electrons produced by the metallic dissolution, to be measured due to their consumption by this cathodic process.
