A model has been developed which can predict the corrosion rate in gas and
oil flowlines and pipelines. The Windows based program describes the physical and
chemical conditions inside of a pipe. This model is capable of predicting the
corrosion rate in systems containing CO2, H2S, organic acids and bacteria. The
model also predicts the occurrence of “top of the line” corrosion, wettability
conditions and can describe flow dynamics in large diameter pipelines. A new
addition to the model is a risk assessment component, which allows for integrity
management of the system.
