The phenomenon of the electrochemical noise is already known since some decades. With the
growing technical possibilities in the fields of electronic measuring devices and recording
techniques a new window of observation has been opened for corrosion experts to see and
record smallest charge fluctuations from dynamic corrosion processes. The main advantage
compared to other electrochemical techniques is the contemporary and sensible way of getting
information from the beginning of and the tendency to corrosion. This is also the basis for
applications for corrosion testing and examination. In this paper, it is shown as representative
for a lot of possible applications, how conventional testing methods and investigation
procedures can be enriched by this advantages. The prerequisites with regard to the
measuring techniques, the experimental procedure and the assessment of the measured data
are shown as well as some natural restrictions, which have to be taken into account.
