FSM (Field Signature Method) is a non-intrusive method for monitoring corrosion,
erosion or localized attacks/cracks inside pipelines, process piping or vessels.
The Field Signature Method has been in industrial use since 1991, and used subsea
since 1994. This paper will discuss history and problems experienced with the method
since its introduction, and typical applications and field data will be presented. Present
status of the Field Signature Method, including subsea, on-line and offline versions will
be discussed, together with new developments and extended applications of the
technology.
