With the development of new high performance stainless steel grades comes the need for more
advanced welding materials. Investigations of welds produced using the austenitic-ferritic welding
material 27.9.5L is presented. Properties of all-weld metal as well as that of butt welds of the newly
developed high alloyed duplex grade UNS S32707 (PRE number 49) are given. Documentation of
tube-to-tube sheet welds in tube sheets of various stainless alloys is also presented and discussed. In
particular, use of this welding material for joining the grade UNS S32707 for obtaining optimum
corrosion resistance is discussed.
Results from the use of weld overlays of 27.9.5.L on substrate material for providing corrosion
protection to e.g. tube sheets in heat exchangers are also discussed.
