This paper discusses the challenges faced during the rehabilitation of reinforced concrete viaducts in Southeast Alaska. This project is unique due to the exposure of the structures, local weather patterns, tides at the site and the variety of construction techniques used in the original construction. The paper will discuss some of the challenges faced during the rehabilitation of the structure and the installation of the recommended cathodic protection systems.
