External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA), a process used to determine the integrity of a pipeline system, is rapidly gaining interest within the industry.
However, there is still much conjecture as to which techniques are more informative and reliable, yet cost effective when compared to in-line inspection (ILl) and hydrostatic testing (HT). This paper describes an ECDA methodology for achieving an acceptable level of pipeline integrity and provides a case study where by ECDA was used to establish the integrity of a pipeline system.
