The approach for the selection of corrosion resistant materials for the completion of the wells in an offshore development is described. The produced fluids are characterized by relatively high contents of CO2 and H2S and by a very high concentration of NaC1 (290 g/l). Due to the substantial lack of data at such a high salinity, tests have been performed on several Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRA) materials to be used for different items in the well. Both sulfide stress corrosion and localized corrosion resistance of these materials has been assessed showing a very good behavior of the nickel-base alloys. Both the literature review and the test results are discussed. Different high alloy austenitic stainless steels arfl nickel base alloys have been selected for the applications in the most critical conditions and there is the possibility to use modified martensitic stainless steels for the liner. KEYWORDS: UNS N09825, UNS N06625, UNS N08535, martensitic stainless corrosion, pitting, crevice, sulfide stress cracking, acceptance criteria steels, localized
