Laser forming is a direct metal deposition process that combines high power laser alloying technology with the advanced methodology of rapid prototyping to manufacture complex three-dimensional geometries directly. The present study involves the use of this technique to form nickel-based-superalloys in simple geometry to compare their characteristics with the conventional alloys.
