The effect of the analysis interval used in the interpretation of corrosion behaviour using the electrochemical noise method has been examined. In addition, the experimental procedure also introduced an inadvertent environmental source of noise through the use of a peristaltic pump to replace inhibited solution by uninhibited solution. The electrochemical noise resistance appears to be reliable, and largely unaffected by the analysis interval or the environmental noise source. In contrast, all of the localization parameters are strongly influenced by the fluctuations introduced by the peristaltic pump, which are interpreted as strong localization of the corrosion process.
