Martensitic stainless steels have been widely used for oil country tubular goods because of their high strength and excellent corrosion resistance in CO2 gas wells. Recently, much attention has been paid for line pipe application of these steels in light sour environments. At first, duplex stainless steels were used as welding consumables. Undermatching was a possibility. To avoid undermatching, the focus was on the use of matching wire. In this paper, mechanical properties and corrosion
resistance of low carbon martensitic stainless steels welded with matching wire are studied. No undermatching was observed in any specimen. PWHT(Post Weld Heat Treatment) reduces 3050Hv hardness compared to as-welded condition. PWHT also reduces scatter in hardness distribution. In case of solid matching wire, impact specimen notched at weld metal showed 84-134J after PWHT a t - 3 0 degree C.
Excellent SSC resistance was observed in a slight sour condition.
