A methodology based in electrochemical noise was implemented to assess pitting resistance of CRA materials at conditions associated to aggressive gas wells. The experiments were carried out at high CO2 partial pressures and temperatures and at different concentrations of chloride ions. The methodology allows defining the onset of pitting reliably and the results showed significant differences in the performance of the materials evaluated. This methodology can be used to complement studies on the materials selection for specific oil well applications
