As utility corridors become more common, the influence of high voltage power lines on nearby metallic structures become of great safety concern due to the induced AC current, fault current , and Iightning.
Safety standards have been developed by NACE International (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) and the Canadian Gas Association. In addition to the standards, an audio visual presentation was developed by NACE Inter.national. This paper is a synopsis of these standards and some safety considerations that should be employed while working near energized power lines.
