Corrosion tests under high velocity burnt fuel have been performed at a temperature of 1000 °C (1832 F) and gas velocities up to 140 m/s for 1 h. and 10 h. Typical gas turbine alloys like alloys 617, 230 and C-263 and the newly developed Ta-fortified alloy 2100 GT have been tested, with respect to mass change, visual surface attack and surface composition by means of EDAX-analysis. According to these results it can be concluded that alloy 2100 GT gave the best overall performance. Even under severe burner rig test conditions a dense and adherent alumina scale was maintained.
